The Australian Charter Chapter of ICF Notes from First 100 Hours SIG Session #1, 29 April 2026 Hosted & Opened by Jacqui Ferris MCC/ACTC, Director Coach Development | Closed by Bismillah Pervez MCC, ICF Australasia SIG Support Summary This firstsession of the ICF Australasia First 100 Hours SIG welcomed 22 coaches working towards or having recently completed their first 100 coaching hours. The session was opened by Jacqui Ferris MCC/ACTC and closed by Bismillah Pervez MCC/ACTC. Guest speaker Mariska, ICF Australasia elected President and PCC, shared her personal story and strategies for building a coaching practice in its early stages. The session was interactive and community-focused, designed to help participants identify their strengths and connect with peers. The breakouts focused on peer sharing around strengths, gifts, and asks within the coaching community. Session Structure •The session opened with a reflective question posed by Mariska:"Has there been a time in the past where you faced adifficulty and overcame it successfully? What were your learnings?" •First breakout rooms were small groups of 2 to 3 participants, intentionally sized so every person had the opportunity to speak. Each person shared theirstrength area and key learnings. •Volunteer sharing followed in the main room, with 2 to 3 participants spotlighted to share with the wider group. •A chat box gratitude activity invited participants to acknowledge their own strength areas. Mariska read responses aloud to the group. •Mariskawove her personal story and strategies throughout the session and shared a brilliant SMART Goals model with the participants. This model would help the participants to make their goals SMART(Specific-Measurable-Achievable- Relevant-Time Bound)enough. •Aseries of reflective questions covering goals, personal strengths, gifts to offer other coaches, and asks from the community were asked by Mariska. •Second breakout rooms were larger groups of 4 to 5 participants. Each person shared their gift and ask. Participants were encouraged to exchange contact details to enable connection after the session. It was made clear that ICF Australasia would not facilitate post-session connections. •Mariska closed her section with a final reflective question:"What is the next step that I can take?" •Cameras on and joining by computer were encouraged throughout. The session was recorded with the full consent of the speaker and all participants.
