MCC SIG Session4:Summary Notes 16 July 2026 ICF Converge Paris202605-ConferenceNotes–V2.0NMTPage1 ICF Converge Paris 17–19thMay 2026 Handout Nicola Metry Thompson attended the conference and here are some summary notes of what I learnt. If there is onetheme,I can say came out of the conference for me it was:We know you are uncomfortable, own it, and do it anyway. I determined that there were 3 themes: •AI and Coaching •Genuine Human Connection •Building the MCC Community 1.0AI in Coaching Others may saythere weretoo manyAIpresentations and workshopsbut I disagree.I was in the workforceback in the 1980swhen PCs were introduced and I had to teach executives how to use them. Some embraced, some ignored for a while and some resisted completely. Resistance was futile. We are here again but this time is it AI. I met coaches who have embraced AI and I learnt from them. In fact, I have engaged one as my AI coach and I am doing the preparation learning that she suggested before I set everything up. Here iswhat I learnt: AI is not being used to replace the coach but to enhance their coaching practice.By using tools to do your support functions, it allows you to be more present during your coaching sessions. It is being usedby coachesto: •Create websitesusing their own materials and documents as source materials so there is authenticity in the words on the page(in about 4 minutes) •They are creating materials from their own written words (not Chat GPT) •Creating Client facing dashboards to share with yourclients to show their progress •Create Apps that clients can use to track their action items and goals •They are using it to schedule clients •They are using it to transcribe their notes then summarise the key themes. •They are using it to review their notesand align it to the ICF Competencies to see if they align and if anything is missing. Review and learn from it and improve your coaching practice. •They are using it to review their notes and determine that the sessions align to the ICF Code of Ethics to see if they align and if anything is amiss. Review and learn from it and improve your practice. •They are using it to create Marketing Lead Generation programs.

The Australian Charter Chapter of ICF Notes from MCC SIG Session #4, 16 July 2026 Hosted by Jacqui Ferris MCC/ACTC, Director Coach Development | ICF Australasia Summary Session #4 of the ICF Australasia MCC Special Interest Group was held on 16 July 2026, running for 1.5 hours. The session featured guest presenter Nicola Metry Thompson, who shared her key learnings from attending the ICF Converge Paris conference held 17to 19 May 2026. Nicola structured her presentation around three central themes that emerged from the conference: AI and Coaching, Genuine Human Connection, and Building the MCC Community. The session included a group breakout activity and rich plenary discussion, with strong engagement from participants throughout. Guest Presenter: Nicola Metry Thompson Nicola attended the ICF Converge Paris 2026 conference and generously brought her learnings back to the Australasia MCC community. Her presentation was structured as a facilitator-led session drawing on her direct conference experience, combining key insights, personal stories, and practical takeaways for MCCs. Theme 1: AI and Coaching Nicola opened with the theme that generated the most energy at the conference: the role of AI in coaching. Her key message was that coaches need to own their discomfort with AI and engage with it anyway, drawing an analogy to the 1987 introduction of laptops in the corporate world, where resistance was common but eventually futile. She shared that AI is not replacing coaching but clearing the way for coaches to focus on what matters most. Key practical uses of AI being explored by coaches at the conference included: •Creating authentic websites using the coach's own materials and documents as source data. •Building client-facing dashboards to track and display client progress. •Developing apps for clients to track action items and goals. •Scheduling clients and transcribing andsummarizingsession notes. •Reviewing session notes against ICF Core Competencies and ICF Code of Ethics. •Creating marketing and lead generation programs, quizzes, blogs, and social media content. •Researching background material and staying updated on ICF website changes.
