ICF Australasia Bushfire Response

ICF Australasia sincerely thanks all who are supporting those affected by the bushfires devasting Australia. We appreciate and share with you messages of support received from coaching communities in Australia, New Zealand and abroad offering words of comfort and prayer.

We hope knowing there is a broad community of care brings you some comfort during this difficult time.

At this early stage, the focus is on fighting the fires and early trauma response. As coaches, we understand that it is important we acknowledge both our skill sets and their limits at this time and make considered decisions about the type of assistance that we can and are qualified to offer.

In some cases, where trauma might be a factor of a clients current concerns, we might in fact be best placed referring on to other specialists. You might like to start with this list -

Lifeline: 13 11 14

Kids Helpline: 1800 551 800

Beyond Blue: 1300 2246 36

Headspace: 1800 650 890

MensLine Australia: 1300 789 978

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

As a Chapter, we are also actively considering how we and our members can, as coaches, best contribute to supporting those who have been affected by the bushfires as well as any future needs that might arise. We thank members who have contacted us with suggestions and offers of help. Please stay tuned for further announcements in this space.

In the meantime, we invite you to attend a panel discussion on the role of coaching in bushfire recovery (details below). This session has been organised by our Victoria/Tasmania branch and 100% of proceeds will be donated to Red Cross Australia.

Best regards
