CONFERENCE REFLECTIONS

Fantastic event - excellent speakers, lots of networking opportunities and spacious venue with plenty of chairs so you can chat and eat while sitting in comfort. Excellent mix of information and practical (experiential) activities in the presentations. Exceeded my expectations on all levels!

This has been an outstanding conference and a terrific effort given it was the first! While yearly would be awesome, realistically every two years is probably better, given the amount of time involved.

Conference feedback metrics

Testimonials like the above attest to the success of the Conference CROSSING BRIDGES IN COACHING organised by ICF Australasia Queensland Branch. It is difficult to put the experience of 100 delegates, speakers and panellists into words that will do them justice, but here is a summary of what transpired over a day and half of gathering coaches, HR professionals and people interested in the coaching profession.

The Keynote Speaker, John Buchanan, kicked off the event with an aspirational presentation that set the tone for the rest of the conference: What Is Your Everest? His words, from the world or sport but universally applicable, challenged the audience:

“Your vision must be aspirational, inspirational for your staff and differentiate your business from the market place”

“Everyone in the organisation must be not only ‘their own best coach’, but also be coach to those around them. Knowing how to achieve your personal best will lead to constant personal improvement and innovation”.

A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS

One of the strengths of the Conference was the showcase of different approaches to the coaching profession:

CONVERSATIONS AMONGST PROFESSIONALS – The Panels

  • How to demonstrate that coaching works?
  • How can Professional Coaching partner with HR?
  • Is an internal coach more suitable than an external coach?

The panel format allowed for more intimate and in-depth conversations amongst all those attending. The diversity of panelists and the interest of the topics sparked intense and interesting conversations. The panel on How to demonstrate that coaching works?, for example, sparked a more in depth article on ROI by Padraig O’Sullivan on LinkedIn. Many attendees expressed the desire to keep the conversations going.
