About Bernadette Schwerdt

As a former reporter on Channel 9’s The Small Business Show, Bernadette is an expert at coaching and guiding small businesses on how to create maximum impact with limited dollars.

She holds a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Marketing) and won the Gold Medal for Strategic Marketing from the University of Adelaide. She is a Certified Meta-NLP Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP); is an accredited instructor of Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), DiSC and PADI and has the Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. She was also the recipient of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Trust for Young Australians. In November 2007, she was awarded the Bendigo Bank Business Excellence Award.

In 2001 she founded the Australian School of Copywriting and has since trained over 800 people to write copy for their own business or to become freelance copywriters working for small business
Bernadette has worked in the corporate training field since 1994. She has trained both in Australia and internationally (Japan, India, New Zealand, Singapore) working specifically in the areas of Presentation Skills, Communication, Negotiation, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, and works as an Executive Coach in Australia and South East Asia with senior executives from multi-national organizations.

She lectures in marketing and communications at various institutions around Australia, including the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA), RMIT, North Sydney TAFE, Holmesglen TAFE, Swinburne University and Melbourne University.

She is also a trained actress and has appeared on Neighbours, Blue Heelers, The Games, Round The Twist, Backberner, Halifax fp, and many other shows. Her third appearance on Neighbours will occur in February 2008. Her theatrical training ensures her speeches and presentations are entertaining, dynamic and engaging.

Prior to her acting and speaking career, Bernadette worked as a senior publicist with the Harry M. Miller Group, where she managed clients such as Maggie Tabberer, Alan Jones, Lindy Chamberlain, Gough Whitlam and many others. Prior to that, she was an Account Director with advertising agency Wunderman Cato Johnson, a division of one of the world’s largest advertising agencies, Young and Rubicam Advertising.
