About Michelle Bihary

 

Michelle Bihary works as a trainer, consultant, supervisor and therapist and is the Founder and Managing Director of The Delta Centre, a multi-disciplinary centre based in Malvern, Victoria.

Michelle draws on twenty eight years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist, Individual Psychotherapist and Family Therapist. Over the 12 years Michelle worked in the Victorian public mental health system (1981 - 1993), she developed expertise in the assessment, case management, counseling, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy and family therapy.

As a team leader and manager, she developed expertise in leadership within the public health sector. For the past sixteen years Michelle has worked full time in private practice where she has specialised in psychotherapy, counseling and family therapy, clinical and professional supervision, training and consultancy services. Michelle has contributed to a wide range of professional activities including the establishment of the National MentorLink Mentoring Program, has been on the organising committee for State Conferences, presented at both National and International conferences and currently is a member of NAMHAG, the National Mental Health Advisory Group for the Better Access to Medicare Initiative.

In 2002, Michelle established The Delta Centre; a centre of therapeutic excellence. As the Director, Michelle has brought together a team of 14 Therapists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists and a Speech Therapist and meditation teacher to create a multi-disciplinary professional community; who work together in a clinical capacity, through providing training, supervision and consultancy services to other health services, and through shared professional development opportunities.

  • Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy – 1990, Bouverie - Latrobe University, Melbourne.
  • Train the Trainer, Swinburne University, 1991
  • Certificate in Project Consulting, RMIT, 1993
  • Institute of Life Coach Training, Foundational Course, 2005
  • Genos Emotional Intelligence Accreditation, Genos, 2008

Credentials and Other Trainng

  • Accredited Occupational Therapist (AccOT)
  • Clinical Member of VAFT
  • Accredited Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessor and Trainer

As well as the formal training listed above, Michelle has attended and presented at National and International conferences, and as a committed lifelong learner regularly attends workshops and further training in areas such as narrative, solution focussed, ACT, mindfulness, meditation, eastern philosophies, spirituality and therapy, hypnotherapy, has done extensive training with Paul Gibney, Michael Yapko, Bill O'Hanlon and Scott Miller. Michelle is currently completing the Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

Consultancy / Training / Supervision/ Speaking Experience

As a recognised consultant and trainer, she designs and delivers tailored training courses, team and individual coaching and consultation geared towards health service providers as well as organisations interested in developing their staff through inspiring training opportunities. Michelle is also contracted by a number of health care networks, welfare and community services from all over Victoria, NSW and South Australia to provide professional supervision, individually and in groups, through direct consultation, phone or videoconferencing. Generally Michelle supervises between 30 and 40 health professionals on an ongoing basis.
