Anna Blackman
Anna Blackman is a lecturer at James Cook University in Townsville, North Queensland currently completing her PhD in the effectiveness of business coaching. She also has her own coaching
business. |
Description
A Model of Coaching was developed to counter the lack of empirical research on business coaching (Brotman, Liberi & Wasylyshym, 1998; Grant, 2004; Kilburg, 1996, 2001; Lowman, 2005) and
its effectiveness (Sue-Chan & Latham, 2004). The model is based in persuasive communication (coachee awareness, attitudes and behaviours) and counselling psychology (the relationship
between coach and coachee). The model presents the different components in coaching (the coach, coachee, organisation and coaching process) and was then tested in two stages: first, to
identify what factors make coaching effective in general and second, to identify specific factors in two different occupational areas. |

Description
Augmenting training with one on one coaching produces dramatic improvements in training productivity. How can we use coaching concepts to create significant productivity
improvements without the resource cost and intensity of one on one coaching? This is a critical issue for not-for-profits such as ICFA Chapters wanting to maximise professional
development outcomes. The solution? The Virtual Coach.
The Virtual Coach taps coaching competencies:
- Designing actions - client defined actions created as part of the training while awareness and commitment are at maximum
- Managing progress and accountability - holding client's attention on the key learning's they found in the training
